Captured Beauty

Watercolor on paper, 2017
5″ x 7″

This piece was created to show the desire to capture the beauty of flowers forever. Flowers wilt, and their petals fall, rot, and disappear. In this piece I wanted to show a case where beautiful petals are being encased in this icy jar in an attempt to elongate it’s lifespan. Another reason that not the whole flower was chosen to be submerged was because a flower lacks it’s beauty without it’s petals and these are what give the flowers their power. Petals, being the essence of a flower’s beauty and the first things to fall off before a flower dies, were chosen to be captured. This is to show the desire of women who wish to hold onto their beauty forever.
